Cancer treatment can ask a great deal of the body. Nausea, neuropathy, fatigue, hot flashes, pain, and the overall strain of treatment can affect everyday life. At Nurture Acupuncture, we provide supportive care alongside your medical treatment.
Our team is trained in Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's Fundamentals of Oncology Acupuncture, an NCBAHM-approved course focused on evidence-informed care in integrative oncology settings.
Your treatment plan will reflect your diagnosis, stage of treatment, current symptoms, medications, and any precautions recommended by your medical team. Oncology acupuncture is never a one-size-fits-all approach.
Acupuncture may provide supportive care for: chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting, chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy - numbness, tingling, and nerve pain, cancer-related fatigue, hot flashes associated with hormone therapy, cancer-related pain, as part of the plan established by your oncology team.
Acupuncture is included in clinical guidelines from the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Society of Integrative Oncology for managing certain symptoms associated with cancer treatment.
Working alongside your oncology team: Acupuncture does not replace cancer treatment. It is a complementary therapy designed to support your comfort and well-being alongside the care provided by your oncology team. We tailor each visit to where you are in the treatment and take appropriate precautions related to immune status, lymphedema risk, medications, and other clinical considerations.
We provide compassionate, individualized acupuncture for people undergoing cancer treatment, offered by practitioners with specialized training in oncology acupuncture.
